A great all round performance. The only weak spots for me were the woeful passes from Mills and Wellens who otherwise put in a couple of strong shifts.

Schmeichel immense again, and a big up for Pearson for putting Bamba back in. Bamba did make one error, which did not lead to anything, when he misjudged a high dropping ball and let it fall their way. Other than that he was immense. You just know that if Bamba is on the pitch no-one is going to get past him, and unlike Mills, he does pass it to our own players.

If anyone has a recording of the game, can they slo-mo one of Bamba's defensive headers? I cannot work out quite how he does not get booked every time. I suspect he does not put his hands on the forward in front of him, but just dives up and forwards over his head to reach the ball, and then just falls on top of him! When he did get booked, it was for holding.

Great performance by everyone. If several shots and headers had been six inches closer, it could easily have been 7-0. Blackpool were not in the game second half, even when Phillips came on, and I have no idea why Holloway took Lua Lua off, he was their best player.

Got nothing to complain about with that result.

Bamba back in the starting line up has gone a long way to allaying my fears that he wouldn't have a future with us.

Hope the good form continues and I may well be eating my words.

Surely everyone remembers Holloway's completely nonsensical substitutions? That was probably the most obvious liability when he was here.

We always used to joke we were half expecting him to bring Conrad Logan and stick him on the right wing.

First half I thought they edged in terms of play despite us being a goal up. Second half we were superb and in the end should have had a lot more than two.

Saw the Goals on Sky sports news, second goal was a beauty of a move. Maybe we can play attractive football still under Pearson.

Don't get me wrong, the result was excellent, but I'm really surprised at the love in about the performance. I'm usually one of the more positive posters when I do get to see games.

I must have indeed watched a different game, although afterwards Pearson and Danns both said that Blackpool were the better team in the first half and we were lucky to be ahead, so it's not just me. We had a slow start to the second half as well, but thankfully got our shit together from then on and coasted home in a very good last 35 minutes. Our improvement coincided with us playing football instead of hoofing it long, which patently didn't work. Just about the only decent move we put together in the first half resulted in the goal.

I'm amazed to read Prof give MOTM to Konchesky. I didn't think he did badly, he ran around a lot and got some good challenges in, but I thought Blackpool quickly worked out they'd have more joy down their right side and Lua-Lua in particular turned him and got crosses in on more than one occasion. Konchesky is a good player and he's been great for us this season, but this is a minor weakness and teams that do their homework will exploit it.

If we're serious about going up, we'll have to play a lot better than we did in the first half. It could have easily gone either way and other teams would have buried us.

Just saying, like...

3 points up to 6th, happy with that.

Missed the game only got the result. Sounds like a typical Pearson performance from the team.

I thought Blackpool played beautifully in the first half. They gave a lesson in movement and passing in a 4-3-3 formation. Despite the fact that we had considerably better players than them, we struggled to handle them. Their achilles heel is their dreadful defence that we were able to penetrate with ease.

As for us, we defended well throughout. My gushing admiration for Schmeichel grows by the week. Konchesky gave a pretty much perfect lesson in playing left back. Peltier is coming on leaps and bounds. I thought our midfield were poor in the first half, much better after the break. Nugent and Beckford will be a great combination at this level. I agree that Danns looks a totally different player since NP returned.

December will be a huge month for us. Can we maintain this form and consistency? Can we make 4-4-2 work away from home? Can we claw back some points on Soton and the Hammers?

They gave us a lesson in the first half - not helped by the continuous needless conceding of possession (Wellens), and an over-reliance on the long ball. But I thought we defended exceptionally well, and we could have scored a couple on the counter. Beckford in particular was denied by a great save.

Second half was a different story, and I thought we took them to the cleaners. Could have had a hatful, really, as their defence is shite.

Our back five were excellent. Mills gets criticism for his woeful distribution (quite rightly) but overall they all looked solid.

Beckford and Nugent were excellent. Their movement is top notch, and they are a whisker away from scoring a bucketload

Special praise for Dyer, who had a wonderful game, and Danns who had his best game in a City shirt so far

Overall we simply looked well balanced and organised, with a clear and solid game plan. We aren't going to win the league playing like this, but I reckon top six is well within reach.

With the exception of Birmingham I do not see anyone outside the current top 6 being able to put together a sustained challenge on the playoff spots

Thought Blackpool played well first half and we never got to grips with the 4-3-3 formation and their movement. Our poor passing didnt help and with the midfield pressed back, Nugent & Beckford were isolated. That said, we restricted them to mainly long range shots and the Taylor-Fletcher header which Schmeichel saved well. 2nd half was much better - pressed them higher up the pitch. Why oh why Ollie switched them to 4-4-2 I'll never know - they were ineffective from that point onwards. Beckford will play worse and get a hat-trick and we could've had 3-4 more.............I didnt think their defence was too bad until Baptiste went off.

I enjoyed Nigel's post match comments on the BBC website this morning, he seems a lot chirpier than he used to be and a lot more willing to play along with Stringer's nonsense too.

The little bit of back and forth between Stringer and Pearson at the end of the interview gave me a laugh, but this comment summed up Nigel Pearson for me though:

Stringer: You're in 6th place tonight, a great position to be in.

Pearson: I'd rather be in 5th. Or in 1st or 2nd.

He always wants to push on, he's always striving for better - one of Pearson's best qualities I think.

Made me smile at the end when Nige rebuffed Stringer's question about the Hull match and told him he'd get a deadpan answer like he used to get.

Good to hear Nige being open about the tactics he employs and what he said to the players to get that excellent second half out of them. Sven would have been switching 4-4-2, 4-5-1 and 4-3-3 in that match but Nige didn't panic and he just told the players to get into Blackpool and stop them playing. It s so simple but thats the magic of Nige.
