I thought Bristol were a pretty poor side. Yes, they rose to the occasion and closed us down well in the second half.

We made them look better than they were by thinking we had won the game at one - nil.

Unfortunately the crowd got complacent and lost concentration about 10 minutes before half-time and that transmitted itself to the players. We never really got back in it in the second half.

Is there a slight concern that we become a little defensive when we are ahead - for example, last week against Derby instead of pushing on and scoring a third goal, we sat back and allowed Derby to come at us. Is this Sven's defensive instinct - ie protect what you have instead of risking going for a killer goal?

I don't think it's a case of us being too defensive when we are going ahead (also, see recent Millwall and Doncaster games and we did attack Derby for 45 mins) at all.

In both the Bristol City and Derby game after we have been comfortable first half, they've come out in the second half and changed their style to press us more and they've simply had more of the ball second half, meaning we've had to do more defending.

It's been as simple as the opposition upping their game and getting back into it in the second half of the past couple of games imo, I don't think it's anything to do with a mentality to defend once we go ahead.

Macky (in the match thread):

Are you having some sort of a stroke or seizure? Is there somebody you need us to call?
I'm fine Macky.

I had problems sending Boc my predictions and the curtain was about to come up on my daughters dancing college show in Nottingham, and I was on my mobile in the audience trying not to be obvious my mobile was on.

Heard Waggys winning goal as I was driving past Nottingham Playhouse.

Let's hope we can put Cardiff on the defensive. They seem to fall apart when things aren't going their way, for example the second leg of the play off when we were 3-1 up. They just looked as though they had given up. It will be tough, but a win would really send a huge message about our intentions.

On another note, should we be praising our new owners? They have gone about their business quietly and professionally. With the way things are going, they surely have to be at the top of the best owners we have had league?

Couldn't believe people were streaming out of their seats a full 8 minutes before half-time to go to the facilities!

Can only assume they thought they could still use their pie and pint vouchers.

The muppets who left 5 minutes before the end of the 90 (that's TEN minutes before the end of the game) deserved to miss one of the best finishes seen at the Walkers.

Can't understand why people are having a go at Ricardo. He should have had a foul awarded when the ball was kicked out of his hands and made some good saves. Didn't punch once all night and caught the ball when needed. He didn't flap at anything.

Those fans who streamed out early disturbed those supporters who were trying to concentrate on the game. You don't get people leaving the cinema ten minutes before the end of "Titanic" without waiting to see whether that irritating young actor drowns or not. (Thankfully he does). At 90 minutes any result was possible as Bristol City could still have had a winner.

As for Ricardo being fouled. It happens to goalkeepers but nothing should cause them to drop a ball. Rocky Marciano could not have got the ball from Peter Shilton once he had it in his hands.

Mark Wallington was quite good at keeping hold of the ball, apart from the occasion when he was the vicitim of GBH courtesy of Mr Bates of Shrewsbury

Looking at the league table tonight...you really can't help but have half an eye on second can you?

Amazing run of games Sven has managed here. Long may it continue.

When we are scoring 92nd minute winners in games like this...well, it all feels a bit preordained somehow!

Still, Tuesday is a whopper. Win at Cardiff and I will be absolutely on the "we're gunnna win the league" bandwagon.

I am curious why abe has been dropped for oakley.

I suspect Abe just needed a bit of a rest Chrys. I doubt he's ever played in a season this long and challenging. Sven probably wants Yuki at his best for the run in.

If Oakley was as bad as reported...Yuki could well be back on Tuesday. At this stage of their careers Abe is just a much better player than Oakley (who in his day was excellent).

Unbelievable run since Sousa. Had we not dropped points before xmas we would be right up there.

Ricardo - Still looks a bit suspect with regards to crosses and such, but I think he looks a better shot-stopper than Weale, there was at least one shot I'm not sure Weale would have saved and he's certainly a much better distributer of the ball, several counter-attacks came through him, which is something I never remember happening under Weale. 7.

Naughton - Some good forays forward, but never really got into the game. 6.
Mee - Thought he attacked the ball a lot more in the air tonight than he has done in the past. Distribution still needs working on though. 6
Bamba - Several fantastic last ditch blocks and tackles and as cocky as ever, especially with his turning the defender with the absolutely cracking assist for our first. Love watching him play. 8
van Aanholt - Several our best attacks seemed to start with him. 7

Oakley - He's decent cover, but it's clear he's not up to Abe standard. 5
King - A couple of excellent forward runs and usual and kept the ball ticking over nicely when he had it. Didn't get into the game as much as he'd have liked though. 6
Wellens - Don't agree with this "maybe he needs a rest" based on one game, after the great form he's been in recently. He simply had an off day, everyone has them. 4

Gallagher - Never really got into the game. 5
Yakubu - 4 goals and 3 assists in 6 games says it all. He may be lazy at times, but every time he plays he just creates goals (either for himself or others), which is why he's here. 7
Vassell - Been said before, but he's really not the player on the wing he is up front. Feel for him a bit, because I like him as a player and he worked his socks off today, as he almost always does, but this position just doesn't play to his strengths. 6.

Thanks be to **** for that. I speak for the entire forum when i say that we all blow a collective sigh of relief. You can most likely feel us all breathing on you as we sigh, but it probably just feels like a twitch in your face.
Now then, skin up and show us some of those card shark tricks you do, you scissor-fingered trickster you

Note to some supporters:

When the announcer says 'The referee has indicated a minimum of 5 minutes additional time, 5 minutes!' this should not be a cue to head for the exits you tossers.

Note to Mattmeister:

Surely its a free country and people can decide when they want to leave...... tosser

Don't disagree, but I'm all for getting the few players with successful playoff experience in the mix for the run off.

Struggled a bit last night as BC disrupted our midfield, but I think Matt has fitted in well the last couple of games. I'd assumed the reason he's preferred to Abe is that SGE wants an old head in front of Bamba/Mee whilst that pair bed in. Neat assist for Waggy's winner - not least because it came about from closing down the oppo in their own half - something I wish others would do more of.

I agree. I think Abe will still have a major role in the run-in.

Mediocre display - Sol apart - but 3 points anyway....credit to Bristol for not just settling for the point their second half efforts warranted.

Delighted for Waghorn - as were the other players/staff etc.
