Much improved second half and although I was unhappy with the half-time substitution it proved good in the end.

Howard has had his day as far as I'm concerned and should be left out.

Robbie Neilson had a decent game at the back but looked out of depth past the half-way line, he just doesn't look like a footballer - so hesitant.

Very happy with the win and some of the second half performances. Howard, Fryatt and Oakley need to be on the bench against Reading. It seemed like Oakley gave the ball away almost every time he passed it. With Gallagher, Waghorn and Campbell on we had a lot more pace in the attacking third.

Well done Nigel on the subs but you need to start getting the team selection right from the get-go.

:icon_eek: I hope you're not suggesting DJ should start, he completely wasted 2 golden opportunities. He's good comedy value, but an atrocious player.

I'm not necessarily saying that Campbell should start but I do think we need more pace in our attack and with Fryatt not having scored in 5 games and Howard not having scored all season we need to start with 2 other players up-front.

Just a useless stat......

Thats now just 6 league defeats from the last 60 league games.
O.k, lge 1 and all that, but still a run of games that the statisticians may well find hard to better in the whole of Leicesters history:102:

Gallagher's second goal was indeed a stunner.

But he did create the 2 opportunities with his pace and the goalie was out very fast to him in the one-on-one.

The difference was the pace. Campbell and Waghorne are not just fast, they run into spaces, which neither Fryatt or Howard do.

Of course the other big difference was Gallagher. He will not 'skin' a player but he has excellent ball control to hold it up and make a great pass.

He also does what Fryatt and Howard cannot do. He can shoot accurately at the goal, even on a half chance. Tonight if he saw the goal he shot at it. His shots were all on target and two went in.

His second goal was not a delicate chip. I thought it was a half volley. Not as far out as Joey's, but probably a more difficult shot from the wing.

I would have no problem with the 11 that finished tonight starting against Reading.

First half poor and gallagher made a diffrence simply brcause he can head a ball, which dyer can't. Fyatt played well and held the ball up. Oakleys passing was atrocious all night and wellens delayed all the time.id start with the finishing line up bar fryatt in for DJ

He didn't create the second one at all, it was a strong team position and he cocked up a simple pass on the edge of the area.

The first one was down to the defenses mistimed off-side trap he didn't outpace anyone there was no one chasing him. The keeper didn't come out too fast at all, he took a good 3 steps to far, should've shot a lot earlier.

Well I wouldn't play Neilson, McGivern, Oakley, Howard, Waghorn on tonight's performances.

Campbell's miss was a shocker given a lack of confidence and match fitness I'll forgive him.

Same here, we play a lot better without Howard imo, I liek Howard but we rely too much on playing long balls to him when he's on, when he's not we play a lot more on the ground.

Waghorn and Fryatt up front with Gallagher behind for me.

Definitely a game of 2 halves - Frank Gallagher made all the difference, second goal was one of the best I've seen at the walkers in a long time. I though Brown was solid and McGivern played well. Wheale looked to struggle with a couple of crosses which was concerning in the first half. DJ was indeed comedy value - first touch took him 1-on-1 with the keeper so he decided to start looking behind him whilst running with the ball!! Fryatt's Penalty was utter shite and left a very easy save for pepperoni. Oakley was rubbish

Dear Nig,
top banana.
3 points, lovely stuff.
keep the gerbil, no hard feelings.
best regards

Completely agree! Howard has has his chance but I worry that we can't change our style of play without him. His reaction when he was subbed showed how frustrated he is at not scoring. Fryatt and Gallagher next time.

Howard had two big guys marking him out of the game. I'm not ready to give up on him just yet, he just lacks confidence. Playing with such a lopsided midfield doesn't help. I wouldn't be adverse to sticking him on the bench again but Yann doesn't really seem to have grasped his chance (though those who were at the games he started may see things differently?) and I'm not sure we can play two little guys, especially with Wayne 'Hoofer' Brown (though he played alright tonight).

I admit I wasn't too pleased with Gallagher coming on at HT as we were already playing far too narrowly (Oakley was terrible, again) and Dyer was our best player first half. Proved me wrong though. He sent several easy shots straight at the 'keeper before scoring his second, lulling him into a false sense of security ;). Gallagher/Fryatt on Monday?

McGivern was ok but kept passing the ball to their players after he'd won it. Not sure I got why Berner and Morrison were dropped as both played well against Derby, Morrison in particular.

No idea why Campbell came on to a cheer and rapturous applause? Can't remember him being that popular here even before he said that stuff.

I thought we looked better without Howard.

I feel a little sorry for Fryatt. He works his socks off, does all of Howard's running, holds the ball well, generally receives poor service, creates his own chances, and still people slag him off. I hope he gets put up there with a proper strike partner soon.
