To clarify I am not going to be saying that Sol Bamba is one of the best players in the world. I would say that anyone not knowing anything about who the players were and told that some of them were among the best players in the world would have picked out Bamba as one of them.

What a great memory for Lloyd Dyer to talk about in old age - Grandad scored against Real Madrid.

Is it true Ronaldo was booed?

Oh yes and I forgot to mention the booing of the Real Madrid Players, an absolute disgrace, I think a section of our fans have delusions of grandeur. I know some will say it's in fun but I think a team like Real Madrid deserve more respect than that from the fans. Chanting at Kaka "who are you, who are you" after booing him because he came over to take a throw in is shamefull. Call me old fashioned but players with that level of skill and abilityshould be applauded from fans of football not treated like rag tag players from Forest.

Yes.I don't like him, although I appreciate he is a very talented player. I thought booing him was a bit pointless, and sums up why I despair at our fans at times.
Some ****s behind me booed ronaldo all match and sang Chelsea reject when xabi alonso took a corner

It's a bit like the small guy in the pub who shouts abuse at the bouncer to impress the lads. Rather embarrassing.

Schmeichel MOTM some great saves in 2nd half. Danns & Vassell looked good.. Too early to say, but I'll say it anyway.. Mills expensive!

Mills looked good up until about ten minutes before he was subbed. A couple of sloppy passes but prior to that some excellent defending. Bamba was class and looked like he'd never run out of steam. Kasper on top of his game and little he could do to stop either goal. Peltier solid. Dyers goal was a split second poach - nice to see a city player taking a chance. All in all everyone seemed to be up for it and I think on that performance we'll be contenders next season. We have to remember these guys have only been together a couple of weeks and need time to get to know each others play. Thoroughly enjoyed the game.

I did not boo but felt like it at the start.

As the Real Madrid players ran out to warm up Birch began what I thought was going to be a really classy announcement "And now we welcome onto the pitch" I stood up to applaud the Real Madrid players and Birch continued welcoming onto the pitch "Jersey Budd".
Why is this fellow able to use Leicester City as his personal PR machine. At least the girl who came on after had some talent although I did not enjoy her performance.
At half time Birch missed an opportunity. As the three singers came off he should have announced "Hey Jersey Budd - thats the way to do it."

What a great day, seeing the likes of Kaka, Ramos, Ronaldo, Benzema, Casillas and Ozil not only in the flesh but at Filbert Way was just incredible. Bamba, Kasper, Danns and Vassell all put in excellent performances against players that are almost uncomparable in terms of ability.

I said to my dad when we got to the ground that all I wanted to see today was for us to score a goal against them, and thankfully Lloyd gave us a moment that I'll treasure for a while. Fantastic, i'm still grinning like an idiot although quite why the **** people felt the urge to boo the best players they're ever likely to see is well beyond me.

Don't worry, these cretins will boo us next week when we lose to Cov!

A genuine question since I don't patronise places that need bouncers these days. Does this actually happen or is it an urban myth?
I ask the question because I can tell you that the bouncers of the 1970s would not have hesitated to sort out anyone who taunted them..

Don't think anyone has mentioned Yuki Abe. Thought he he was tremendous in the first half. A real aggressive terrier-like midfielder. Just what we've been missing. Kasper excellent all game. Mills well worth what we paid. Konchelski a revelation. Peltier very competent. Danns will become a very important player for us too, as will Nugent. Never thought that Sol Bamba was such a good player before today. He kept us in the game in the first half with some fantastic tackles.

Second half RM pressed higher up and compressed our midfield and our passing could not therefore compete with the accuracy and speed of theirs.

Best witticism heard in the crowd was during the second half (when we came out in all white kit). "I can't tell if that number 7 is Gallagher or Ronaldo."

I thought Yuki got caught out in possession a lot today

Despite a great first half, I didn't notice him so much in the last 45 other than losing possession. With Real Madrid pushing further upfield he had less space and time on the ball.

Also a few wayward passes. I don't rate him personally. I think he gets too close to players as well and they often turn him and are able to run or pass into the space that is left behind. Anyway I think we did great considering the gulf in class. A good experience for all concerned and one of those historical moments for Lloyd Dyer where he can look back and tell the kids 'I scored past Iker Casillas!'.

I enjoyed the occasion. Alonso and Ronaldo stood out as different class from anything we usually get to see. Fair play to Madrid, they approached the game spot on.

For us, I think we'll be fine with Schmeichel, Bamba and Mills as our base. We've easily got enough in the full back positions and across midfield. I was impressed with Nugent's attitude and application. We just desperately need a quality finisher and we'll be far too good for the average Championship team.

In terms of players who rose to the occasion and didn't look out of place. Peltier was clearly nervous first half but grew into the game. Difficult to judge him. Abe was the only one in midfield who had any composure. Wellens did himself no favours. Vassell and Bamba were our best players by some distance.

Of the other newbies, Konchesky will be a solid addition. St. Ledger and Danns didn't impress me at all. Johnson and Ball looked miles away from full fitness.

One memory that will take a while to fade was of two young men walking away from the stadium holding hands. Nothing wrong with it of course, but it was strange to see at the footy. No doubt they were drawn to the game at the prospect of seeing Matt Oakley.
