There is a bit of a problem beginning to establish itself though isn't there? We only have 1 workable starting 11. All the players that have been bought in since January haven't been able to establish themselves. We've spent 10's of millions and it's difficult to see where any of the players really fit in.

Maybe it will take time but at the moment the first choice 11 picks itself. So have we actually strengthened? On paper yes but as a team? Not at the moment.

I'm excited about Gray's potential but i'm not sure ha can be another Mahrez - very few players are that good.

I do see what some people are saying. We didn't sign these new players with a view to never playing them. Based purely on his work with the national side, I'm excited to see Kaputska (hopefully) blossom. I'm also a Schlupp fan and don't see how we lose anything defensively by putting him on the left. And we gain a natural left-footer out there.

Albrighton has been very good for us and I have no problem if he continues to be selected. But there are other options and I don't think it's lunacy to want to see them play.

I do, however, think that Okazaki is vital to the balance of the side.

It's amazing how someone with a different view is attacked by the pack. Why not just accept that's his view and put yours in favour of albrighton without the unkind personal attacks?

I think albrighton plays but his and Okazaki's days are numbered even though they have great workrate and discipline. We're moving to another level and we have better all round players.
And that next level is Schlupp?

Schlupp :icon lol:

God help us.

And on Okazaki, remember folks, only assists and goals matter, there is nothing else :icon rolleyes:

Yeah, clearly Albrighton not considered a key squad member, that four year contract he just signed speaks volumes....

We don't allow personal attacks on here so if somebody could point them out then I'm sure us moderators would act accordingly. As it is, I can't see any personal attacks.

Don't you pipe up, you £@#%&£#£%!

Last season we had a great team. This season we're going to need a great squad. Sometimes the right selection will be Albrighton and Okazaki, sometimes it won't.

Getting bogged down in battles over one player being better than another is pointless. The tinkerman will tinker.

Whatever the team is against Liverpool will be different from the one against Brugge. And so on.

We don't have much depth to rotate the defence, but we can certainly freshen up the attack.

It will be interesting to see how our team adapts to rotation though, many are so used to playing every game, and the familiarity with each other has been a particular strength.

So creating goal scoring opportunities for others by pulling the defence apart is a wasted activity?

I have never seen Vardy run with the ball more than about 5 yards, so apart from Drinky's 'over the top' passes, how the **** do you think the ball gets to him, or is that just Mahrez and Albrighton, and nothing to do with Okazaki?

Where did I say that?

albrighton and Mahrez premier task is to feed the strikers - or if you want striker since Okazaki is not there to score in your opinion - We also have Drinkwater and Mendy/Amartey to feed the strikers. that's without taking into account Fuchs great passing, simpson's crossing and Kasper's kick outs.

Where we have the problem is that Vardy is our only striker for scoring goals and we need help there and variety.

But you are happy to have slimani and Musa not playing it seems. Each to their own.

He IS an important squad member but he's not a firm starting 11 player.

I'm not sure whether I'm make myself very unclear or some people are so blinkered that they can't see what I'm saying so in an effort to clarify:

1) I like and appreciate both Albrighton and Okazaki.
2) We have just broken our transfer record twice to bring in Musa and Slimani
3) They have been bought to be played after acclimatisation and getting to know the squad
4) they are strikers or possibly (musa) wingers.
5) the places they could play are currently held by Vardy, Mahrez, Albrighton, Okazaki.

My questions to you are:

1) do you think that we've bought Slimani and Musa to play them?
2) Who would you replace in the team to play them?

The fact that we have paid a lot more for Slimani and Musa than our current strikers is a reflection of the market, not their ability.

I do not think they have been bought to replace any of our wingers or strikers but to compliment them and provide rotation when we are playing twice a week.

They both play differently from our existing players so offer Ranieri tactical options, not just fresh legs.

If Ranieri had bought in two big 24 year old centre backs, I could see how they would be viewed rightly as replacements for Morgan and Huth who probably have two years each left in them.

Slimani and Musa I see as part of a rotating strike force of choose any four from six+.

I wonder why we brought in Gray, Kapustska, Musa, Slimani etc... then?

Those four will all be above Albrighton and Okazaki in the pecking order soon.

Mate I think you are slightly misguided Kaputska plays the same position as Mahrez, Gray is great going forward but offers nothing defensively although I am sure that will improve with age. As for Schlupp he is bone idle positionally he is terrible! What Albrighton gives to our team is Balance,Vision and great positional play, I hope CR has the same ethos as last year "if it is not broken do not fix it".
The bottom line is CR is building a squad for the Champs League,Prem and beyond he will use all the players at his disposal this year he will have no choice.

So who are they replacing in the "strike force"

And you seem to be arguing for okazaki and Albrighton to be replaced but calling it rotated.

I agree we have a squad now.
