Leicester City have confirmed they have entered "very early stage discussions" with a view to a possible takeover.

The exact identity of the interested party remains unknown, although former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric is the front-runner having bid for The Foxes.

Mandaric tabled a £25 million offer on November 1 for the Championship outfit, prompting an extraordinary general meeting for shareholders this Saturday about the next course of action.

In a bid to quash any unnecessary speculation regarding the takeover, the club have moved to clarify the situation by releasing a statement.

"Following recent press speculation, the board announces that it is currently in very early stage discussions which may or may not lead to an offer being made for the company," read a club statement.

I'm even more confused by RL's report. They seemed to be saying that MM's bid will be reccomended to the shareholders on Saturday, and that 'John Barber has learned' that there will be just the two options open to the shareholders - however I don't know if that's with this new news or not... if not then why is it the top story on RL, if so then why all the confusion...
