Quite. It should be known to everyone that Leicester is the 8th biggest city in England and the 2nd biggest with only one team (after Leeds)

Not to mention its the only team in the whole of Leicestershire and theres no teams in its neighbouring counties of Warwickshire and Rutland as well. Though Warwickshire does seem to have a split fanbase with Cov

Coventry, Birmingham, West Bromwich, Walsall and Wolverhampton are all in the historic county of Warwickshire

Leicester has a bigger population than all of those places.

This is a list of the largest cities in the United Kingdom. Note that the population statistic for London refers to Greater London which according to the "official definition" is not considered a city. Theres another 650 thousand in Leicestershire to as ours is a very large county.

Fact of the matter is that NP if doing a good job next season will be high on far bigger clubs' lists than Middlesbrough, although I think if Sheffield Weds asked he'd fine it hard to turn them down emotionally. He is a Wednesday fan I think?

That list only has Leicester at 280k because it soley includes the city centre and not the suburbs of the city. Id say the suburbs are just as likely to have a large population of Leicester fans than the city centre, so i think they would count for the purposes of what size a city represents the football clubs possible fanbase, so the first list posted is far better for this situation.

^Theres the list again with what is included as you can see, even being the 8th biggest city in England still excludes Beaumont Leys, Scraptoft, Glenfield, Thurmaston, Thurnby, Oadby and Wigston

It says it includes Scraptoft, Glenfield, Thurmaston and Thurnby but not Beaumont Leys, Oadby and Wigston.

Surely it says Scraptoft, Glenfield, Thurmaston and Thurnby are excluded as well as Beymount Leys? :102: Else they wouldve used a full stop to separate them, not a comma.

It's telling us how their area differs from the actual city boundaries. So it's saying it's the city minus Beaumont Leys (which is inside the city), plus Scraptoft, Glenfield etc, which are included in their figures but are not inside the City.

"District (IE the city) minus Beaumont Leys, plus Scraptoft, Glenfield, Thurmaston, Thurnby.

You have a refreshingly sentimental view of football managers Alex.

However, I think you will find that in practice managers separate out their allegiance as 'fans' from their best professional and financial interests.

The 'official definition' that puts Wakefield 'city' high in that list just shows the games Wakefield played with defining city limits. The population of Wakefield itself is about 100,000 max, I reckon.

I'd be interested to know where the assertion that he's a Sheffield Wednesday fan comes from. Isn't he from Nottingham?
