Is there a point where the amount of tax falls below the cost increase?

It's not just the tax element. There's also the cost of the benefits that have to be paid to the poor sods dumped on the dole.

Not to mention the human cost

I worked for a company that did an empirical study on Indian (based in India) v UK (Indian and non-Indian) based IT workers. The conclusion they came up with was that the Indians based in India were only some 66% productive as their UK based counterparts. This was using a software company rather than their own IT department based in India.

The cost of the Indians in India was cheaper, but not a third cheaper, and not enough to cover the extra management costs of outsourcing.

As far as I perceive it, outsourcing is a means for a lazy management group to redistribute the IT resourcing problem rather than solve it.
