I have this sinking feeling that we may have undone years of progress with this appointment, forcing us to start over in a non too distant future. Hope I'm wrong

I hope he doesn't do a Rob Kelly. Positive at the start and then a disaster when made permanent.

Hopefully it works out. A massive come down from having won the league and experienced champions league football to struggling to attract a manager though.

All this positivity! I'm getting dizzy

Have we struggled to attract a manager? Seems to me like the job was always going to be his and we weren't looking (at least not very hard).

Anyway I'm happy. It's sorted now and we can get on to getting rid of Mahrez and signing some players.

Why has it taken this long to give him the job? If we've not been in contact with other candidates then that's even more disappointing as Id like to think we've got ambition.

Meh

Win the league and still cant attract a quality, proven manager who will attract players and kick us on as a club.

Totally underwhelming and imo a step backwards.

He'll / we'll do OK, be alright.
Mid-table safety here we come. Next season anyway.

A few available managers had taken their respective jobs over the last few days, and we end up with Shakespeare after a length delay. Could all be conspiracy bollocks, but the timing of the confirmation does make one wonder.

As for the appointment, underwhelming is the word that comes to mind, big name players may find our manager too unknown to come to the club, whilst I no longer trust our recruitment to be able to unearth unknown gems since Walsh left us in the capable hands of Rudkin. So that kind of leaves us between a rock and a very hard place.

Told you Borderfox, done and dusted a couple of days ago. They talked to 2 or 3 big name european managers and were turned down so settled on Shakey.

We should've been able to do better but those of you who thought the 2 from 11 stats to end the season were alright have got your man.

My worry is not so much the team performance but getting the players of the right quality in. Will they come for Shakey unless we offer ridiculous wages?

FIF, you may well be right, I fear for the future, Shakey is an unknown quantity to agents and players, we are going to rely heavily on our youngsters.

I'd have liked a better manager but we have some good players and some excellent young players. I still feel with our squad, shakey can challenge for a european place. If we make that next season then the players will be available again next year.

I think we'll lose Mahrez this summer but no-one else of great concern, considering how little he contributed this year and that we have Gray, Kapustska and Lawrence to fight for his place I think we'll be okay. Just as long as we get those defenders we so badly need.
