Shakespeare given three year contract

Let's be honest about this. He's got the gig because he has been here for ages, the players like him, and the owners haven't got a scooby what else to do.

None of those reasons are good enough. The form improved sufficiently under him because the players upped their performances in reaction to the vitriol aimed at them when Ranieri went. As soon as safety was assured, they went back to being shit again.

Shakespeare has no management experience, he's admitted that it wasn't a role he had ever aimed for, he's far too close to the players, he's got the tactical intelligence of a gnat, and he'll be completely unattractive to any potential new signings. You can immediately write off any chance of us signing players like Sigurdsson for example.

It's a shocking decision that will almost certainly end in tears. If he makes it to Xmas, I'll be stunned. Feck knows what we'll do then mind given as there's nobody else in the line of succession that they can turn to.

In his shoes, I'd have done exactly the same as him. Who wouldn't? He's been given a contract that will set him up for life now irrespective of what he does. But I truly doubt whether, deep down, even he feels that he's up to it. If I were a player at the club with the potential to do better, I'd be on the phone to my agent tonight to get me the feck out of the club. Everton (for example), now looks like a major improvement on staying here.

Sometimes it is possible to see the terrible outcome of a decision before events unfold to prove it. Like May getting elected tonight.

Now let's dicect this:

Yes a multi 100 million pound business appoints a boss based on longevity and forgets how it has acted 'ruthlessly' in relation to the two previous managers?

I imagine his remit was safety and he achieved this easily. We weren't fit enough to complete the season acceptably.

In today's market bar the champions league 'attraction' the dollar rules so we pay more wages than ABC and are equal in stature - the player signs for us.

It's a shocking decision in your opinion but to be fair your glass generally isn't even damp let alone half full.

We will see.

We weren't fit enough to complete the season acceptably.

I'm sorry but that's total rubbish.

So what you're basically saying is that we started the season unfit, then all of a sudden found a high level of fitness when Shakey joined, and then became unfit again?

No, we raised our game but couldn't and didn't need to maintain it.

Im more concerned about the way he sets up his team against anyone considered remotely decent.

I was ****ing sick of watching our 'non style' last season, we didnt have a bloody clue with the ball, can't see that changing.

A frustrating experience on the cards imo

Just reading a lot of this thread.

I think I'll go and follow another football team. It seems this Leicester City Football Club thing is totally rubbish and run by clueless people who have no idea. No-one there is of any use. The players can only play when they're arsed and the bloke in charge of them has never been a manager before and therefore can't cut it.

Still, I know one side to be relegated next season.

Dont be silly.

We've just appointed a manager who won two out of eleven of his most recent games.

The cartwheels will have to wait whether you like it or not.

We appointed Ranieri after he'd been sacked by Greece after losing to the Faroe Islands. That turned out okay.

Look, I can't really say too much about it as I really don't know whether this will be a good or bad move. The point is, nobody does so the moaning and petulant bollocks on here about this is bordering on the pathetic. Why not just wait and see? As for attracting players, money talks not the surname of the manager. Orifice is spot on.... (I know that sounds overtly sexual!)

As I've previously posted there is a more than fair chance he was asked to save us from relegation - he achieved this easily.

We don't know w what his remit is for next season but I would hazard a guess at top 6 and a fall back position of top half.

We proved in the final third of the season that we are better than most teams around us and achieved our position without a sweat.

If logic prevails even with the loss of Mahrez - we will still (without signing anyone) be better than most.

Mahrez didn't turn up last season end therefore even if this void is filled with Gray he is a very able replacement.

A few quality additions and I see no reason whatsoever to not be pushing for top 6.

Perspective please.

We also have a fantastic group of youngsters about ready to break through in the mould of Chilwell. I would much sooner we start introducing these players to the first team than spunking 10's of millions of pounds indiscriminately as that isn't sustainable.

Perhaps Shakey knows these players very well and wishes to use our youth system to fill gaps - i for one would welcome this even if it means a season of mid to lower table finish.

It would bode better for the future than boom and bust.

the owners haven't got a Scooby .

I regard all members of the forum with unconditional regard but have a special admiration for BN

He knows that the owners have not got a Scooby. I don't even know what a Scooby does. However, surely if they can afford a helicopter they can afford a Scooby.
He has what I believe is called "an in" with the players to know what motivated them
He knows what will appeal to Sigurdsson - it is not the wages but the name of the manager.
He knows the inner workings of Shakey's psyche.

What a man!
Above all he sees the terrible outcome of a decision before events unfold. Mrs May should have consulted him

Personally the wait and see thing would be fine if we weren't going down the Rob Kelly's smashing bunch of lads route. few players made a difference in the honeymoon period of success and if they leave I can't see eating any shit in training being a massive pull for others. Perhaps the current bunch are more unique than I thought.

I dont care if I'm wrong, I positively hope I am.

However, I am allowed to express an opinion. I'm not doing so blindly either. Im basing it on having watched a lot of games with him at the helm and being completely unsatisfied with the style and approach to these games, especially after the novelty had worn off.

What a boring place this would be if people didnt give their opinion, especially at this stage of the season.

Oh and despite his record before us, I was one of the few who backed Ramieri from the start as a good appointment.

Clearly, the biggest clue to how this will transpire is <insert drum roll> that he's already underwhelmed as a manager for us. <insert b'dum tish>

It's not "moaning and petulant bollocks", it's a ****ing forum. If you want nothing but upbeat brainless platitudes then go to www.omygodeverythingistotesawesome.com, it would be bordering on pathetic not to.

Well if Shakey cannot get Sigurdsson here, I hope he can at least attract some coaches. As far as I am aware, all we have left now is a goalkeeping coach and the bus to take the team to away games!

We have what we have, so give Shakespear a chance. I didnt see any potential managers available, who would have guaranteed success, but lots of the usual failed crowd.
I was hoping the owners had someone in mind, relatively unknown, showing great potential and skill, in one of the top european leagues.
I'm sure we will see what is in store as the transfer window develops, I agree with most posters that we have an adequate squad for the premier league, (even if rhiyad were to leave), but not sure about top 6. Given the squad is still up for it next season, I would like to see just two big name signings, one commanding central defender and one creative midfielder. Hopefully Shakespear can rekindle the attitude and togetherness within the squad, but I do fear his tactical ability. It is very important we start the season with a clear system, including plans B and C, when necessary and the squad players know what is expected of each of them. Looking forward to the new season already.
