Re. Fofana, replacement looks like it's gonna be Akanji on loan. Good move all around really. He's got a year left at Doetmund and wants out, they want rid and gave frozen him out. We come along and pay his wages for the last year whilst getting a look at him and potentially getting him free next summer.

We'll be ripped off if we try and buy now, this late in the window and with a big wad just like the quotes we git immediately after selling Maguire. Loans are the only way to go.

Happy enough if true. A month ago I'd have been horrified at losing him but he's not that player anymore. No longer an asset.

Just look at this possible line up, in a way I can see the attraction in football returning to this, but there's a reason we need to buy players!

No. It's an argument not to sell our best players without having a proper replacement ready.

Needing to sign a player so close to the end of the window is likely to mean we pay too much for a replacement, or sign someone we wouldn't have bought a month ago, because the players we really wanted have already been signed by another club.
