Creating a screenplay from a novel is never an easy process. It would be absolutely impossible to faithfully reproduce a book, unless you want to have a film that is 12 hours or more long. Compromises have to be made.

I agree, which makes it even more unbelievable when they drop important bits from the book but then add entire 10 minute scenes that aren't in the book and make no sense.

Trust me, it's a waste of a couple of quid IMO. Any film which adds 3D post-production isn't quite the same as the real thing.

I've just read the first chapter of Man and Boy by Tony Parsons (somebody gave it me, I wouldn't have bought it normally) and I hate it already. Has anyone read it? Is it worth carrying on?

Finished 'Mother Tongue'. It wasn't the page turner his books usually are but I did find it fascinating.

Read Kathryn Webb 'The Legacy' after seeing it on tv and was surprised how much I enjoyed it.

Reading now 'How Mumbo-Jumbo Cconquered the World' by Francis Wheen.

Just started Lee Childs new 'Jack Reacher' thriller. Looking good so far, just like all of his others.

Finished 61 hours, the latest Jack Reacher paperback, brilliant as ever.

Then read Transition by Iain Banks. First Banks novel I'd read and to be honest didn't really take to it.

That's my very next book to read! Had to give preference to Jack Reacher but now that's gone it's Dan Brown time!
