Is Peking not a politically incorrect term now days? Unless the university was named in English when it was founded, is it an English or a Chinese university?

No, funnily enough....that surprised me too. In English they still refer to themselves as Peking University, as shown on their website: http://en.pku.edu.cn/

It may be to distinguish themselves from several small, speciaised Universities, eg Beijing Univerity of...this or that (I think Aeronautics and Agriculture are examples), but I'm only guessing.
