Re: Appeal lodged against Beckford's red card.

I am not sure if my eyes are playing tricks or what, but as Beckford walks away from the player having tapped him on his back, does his right foot catch the guys head? I am not saying it was deliberate, if it did indeed happen, but that's the only reason I can see for a red being shown.

Would the Brighton player not have reacted to being kicked in the head?

Re: Appeal lodged against Beckford's red card.

I agree there does appear to have been some contact but there is a slight delay between the possible brush against the head and when the linesman raised his flag. As a former official anything like that would have caused me to riase my flag straight away!. My feeling from looking at that is that as Beckford went away from the incident he carried on complaining and used foul and abusive language and the assistant heard it all.

But he wasn't sent off for foul and abusive language as far as I understand. He was sent off for kicking out at the player.

Also was that you just on the moan in?

Well there's certainly nothing in the tackle, and Beckford is rightly irritated that their player seems to have gone down like a sack of spuds and had a bit of a roll for good measure. He's not really done anything wrong there IMO and it's a ridiculous decision from the linesman. A bit of play acting from them that I hate to see and it has caused us a red card.

Reminds me a bit of the Man City game against Fulham the other day where fairy boy Adam Johnson was going down under every slight breeze in the penalty area. If you ask me, the referees are partly to blame for this kind of unsportsmanly behaviour, if they spent a bit more time about making a better informed decision rather than getting duped by play acting most of the time I dare say we'd see a lot less diving, play acting and the game will closer resemble something of what it used to be. Of course is doesn't help that FIFA aren't willing to introduce modern technology to make the referee's job easier...

How do you know when you are being duped? If you know you are being duped you wouldn't be (duped) and would therefore take the appropriate action!

For me it's the lack of support from the FA/FIFA who take absolutely NO action when a player clearly cheats and cons the officials and it's all over the TV and they get away with it.

Nah - I've got a Life! :081:

I haven't heard anything official about the reasons for the off. Didn't realise that it is for Violent Conduct - I just think the lineo was slow to react!

It's not the best angle to see whether his foot catches the players head, but it certainly looks like minimal contact at the worst.

I can't see it being intentional though as he appears to lift his foot high so as to try and avoid making any contact.

If it was for the tap on the head then we have a problem...

...if this were applied considering at all games then there will be a Lot of games having to be abandoned...

FFS - it was NOT a kick to head.

It was walking near somebody's head

I'm sure Beckford pulled out a shotgun and shot the other player, he then went and raped the guys bird and shat on his mother, it's all there in the video footage.

Having seen it several times now, even though it's fairly innocuous, I can't see us winning the appeal.

Feck me I hope this is sarcastic. If Beckford deserved to be sent off for this then I truly need to give up with football. The officials have made a complete and utter f*ck up and should be ashamed of themselves. There is enough play acting and ridiculous behavior in football. If people choose to jump on this as unacceptable behaviour then the world has truly gone mad. Absolutely laughable.

I don't like it when managers constantly berate the officials. It often comes across as an excuse to cover up their own failings.

I have no problem with appeals against bad decisions.

Without trawling through hours of Pearson's post-match interviews, I'm struggling to think of any pattern where he has 'constantly berated officials'. I think, given the circumstances and incidents in the last two matches, he has remained remarkably calm...In contrast to 'cider nose'.

I'm not just talking about post match interviews. He seems to spend a lot of time during matches moaning at the fourth official. I realise most managers do the same thing, but I wish they'd concentrate more on their job and less on things they have no control over.

I've seen the clip 15 times and I still can't see it? Don't tell me I got my wanking sock out for nothing.

I didn't say he was kicked in the head, I said there was contact. Maybe the Brighton player realised it was accidental, or maybe he saw the lino had his flag up, who knows. Am just saying it as I sees it.
