I would guess that you are joking and my reaction is nothing to do with tonights result. However, I do not think it sensible to make a 22 year old captain in only his third full season.

Although I realise that there is the precedent of Bobby Moore I believe a captain needs experience. He should have played under a number of different captains to see how to do the job and how not. He should also be old enough to help the young players rather than being one of them.

I do not know enough about the character of the older players to know who I would have as captain but I would prefer to see King learning the game rather than advising others.

Andy King is clearly a very talented player and the club think highly of his character. However captaincy needs judgement. Experience on its own does not provide judgement but it is an essential ingredient.

Agreed David. I know others may disagree but IMO King has not been as good in the last 3 games has he was in the others before.

He will be a very good captain in the future but for now let him just play his game and not worry about the rest.

Pretty good judgement to make Waghorn keep his shirt on a few weeks back.
Pretty good judgement to include Abe in the goal celebrations the other week.

FFS, there are more pressing priorities than whether or not Andy King should be captain.

Apart from our improved fitness there's still far too many similarities with how we were at the start of the season. Teams watch us knock it around for a bit, then harrass and harry us out of our passing game - no Plan B.

Abe disappointed tonight, Andy King invisible. Richie did a lot of work, Gally still looks a liability defending.

Did we have any strikers before Stevie came on? Makes no sense playing Vassell and leaving Dyer on the bench. Jack Hobbs made poor decisions throughout - confidence still totally shot. Not as impressed with the loan defenders as the last few games. Maybe Naughton trying too hard against his old club.

Still a points not a bad result considering how it looked in normal time.

You have summed up the whole 90 minutes entirely accurately. For those who were not there, take it from me, that is EXACTLY how it was.

The captaincy is not urgent but it is important and it is too easy to let pressing priorities take precedence over what is important in the middle and longer term.

I would be interested to know what you feel the pressing priorities are.

The pressing priorities are, firstly that our team never does any pressing whereas other teams like Sheff U do press us by closing us down quickly to stop us playing.

Secondly, Sven has sorted out our defence and midfield but we have very poor strikers at the moment. No wonder Steve Bruce laughed when we offered £3m for Waghorn. Fryatt looks disinterested and lethargic. Steve Howard is Steve Howard.

We need Vitor back and Hobbs either loaned out or sorted out. We also need a real handful brought in up front. Agree withe fact that we don't have the physical attributes in midfield to deny other teams space - either the pace or size which means we are easy to play against at times through the middle. Along with the striker issue. This is a problem Sven has to remedy as Abe, King, Wellens are great with the ball and pretty poor without it.

A point about Steve Howard. To anyone that wasn't there, it would seem that he came off the bench and scored. Maybe that means he should start on Saturday?

No.

He actually missed two absolute sitters. One ten yards out in front of goal when he virtually passed it back to their keeper. The other a free header five yards out centre of goal made for a player like him.

We created few good chances last night and he wasted the best of them.

Howard won every header though and held the ball up and laid the ball off to Dyer etc the trouble was Fryatt didnt seem able to get involved -did he even have an attempt on goal? Dyer when he came on revitalised the left and had SheffU worried then he went to the right and not so effective until last few minutes

Two points down the shitter

Crying out for change in formation after half am hour
Can't believe wewaited so long to do it cos when we did the game turned on its head

Really piss poor stuff

Jack hobbs worst game in a city shirt by a country mile

Totally agree

Tactically out-done. Speed sussed how we distributed the ball and that was it. Hobbs was v.poor, tbf the whole back four were poor really but they had no outlet to pass the ball. Vassell was very narrow on the right, Waghorn couldn't make the ball stick and the three cm's made little impact.

Agree with all this except that the midfield 3 did well up until Speed changed things a bit and they got their 1st goal which seemed to change the game a lot. I made the same point about Vassell to my mates last night

They knew exactly what to do against us. They came with a clear idea what they were going to do and it almost worked, and their style made us look poor (not that we needed help to look shite). Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted we got the point, but I really feel like we've stolen it.

I agree BM but up until their 1st goal they were very poor and we could have pushed on and finished them off. Your last sentence sums up how I felt at the end perfectly

After the first 20 mins I thought we were on for a 3/4-nil win.

Lucky to get the point in the end.

A bit of a reality check can't do us any harm tho'.

Yep

I thought Sheffield United did well. They are much less talented than Leicester but brought us down to their level. Of the two teams I thought they wanted it more. The two goals were superbly taken by their players - though the first was also dreadful defending. Once they got to 2-1 they tried to keep it that way and nullified us until the final minute. As for time wasting that was what any team would do.

Nobody had an outstanding game for Leicester. It was the worst I have seen Cunningham and Naughton. To be fair to Howard and Dyer I thought we looked more dangerous when they came on.

Yes to all that too

Gallagher's corners are shite. We have had 120+ corners so far this season and not scored from a single one. We used to be red hot at our set pieces, especially corners, but this season seem to be unable to convert them.

Yet another game where our strikers haven't scored from open play.

I feel that we were extremely lucky last night and all of those people who were texting RL after the match saying how good we were clearly weren't at the game.

I thought the defence was slow to react and slow to clear the ball. The midfield were sat so deep as to be ineffective and when we were passing the ball it was either predictable and possesion given away or sent back to the back two, probably because there was no movement up front to create any space, whenever anyone did get forward they were left on their own with no support and eventually out-muscled by the opposition.

We were made to look poor last night and I suspect that we were flattered by poor oposition in the previous two games. Reality check on Saturday when we come up against a team that is in form and playing well.

According to Football365 we are now 5th on recent form (last 8 matches). We would have been joint 2nd if we had won last night.

Currently top on recent form are Derby County (6 wins and a draw). Who have we got next?

There were never 20,000 in the stadium tonight. 18k tops.
LCFC include all tickets sold, so included in the " attendance " last night was your truly, even though I was down my local here in Harlow. I hated it when other clubs ( i.e. Charlton ) did it, and it make us look totally stupid.
