Because of his board decided to desolate his squad of impressive players who were in the top half for most of the season and then they sat down to replace the players, Newell was given a very small budget to which he had to work with. When offered jobs last season, he turned them because the board promised money and a new ground.

Considering how tight the Championship how competitive it is, it's only been since January since they slid down the table just after the sales of their two best players. Anyone remember their impressive 2-0 win on opening day, to me Luton didnt look unfit, disorganised, clueless. They sold Vine and Edwards in January and then replaced with Watford Squad player Spring and Sheff Wed back-up striker Drew Talbot.

exactly. the board there have acted in a disgracefull manor. they are worse than our previous lot.

Absolutley nothing linking our new regime with Newell IMO.

What is our new regime exactly? As far as I can see it our new regime is all about consolidation this season and further efforts the next. The thing is, things need to be flexible. We could see Newell go to another Champ. club and exceed very well, it's a risk, but I think we pretty much all agree that a change in Manager is what we need. Surely MM will too therefore, and when propects become available, then one must surely consider their potential in the plan.
Newell is also someone I think MM would like. Outspoken, dogged, and funny faced.

I would like to see Newell come in and replace Kelly, he has a decent eye for a player as shown in the recent years in how much money he has made for Luton in sales.

Kevin Nicholls in as his first signing would be nice too !!

I meant that MM is making the decisions now not Kemit the Frog and the rest of the Muppet Show so theres little linking him with here currently.

I think Paul Jewell could be tempted away from Wigan. He's forever going on about the low crowds etc, and in reality Wigan have gone as far as they can go with that kind of fan base etc.

Mike Newell was nearly appointed instead of Kelly, personally I don't think its any great loss. Now we have money lets steal a manager who is already proven to be decent!

RK is safe for a few games until MM knows we are safe in this division, then there is no pressure on him to replace RK unless MM thought an outstanding manager for this club would only be available for a short time.
I do not think Newell comes into the oustanding category. On the basis that MON like managers from the lower leagues are as rare as rocking horse sh*t, I would assume that MM would want to go for for someone who has a proven promotion record.

But neither was there a link to Dowie but MM was very near to appointing to him. Plus I am sure it was in a sunday paper not too long ago that MM was keen on bringing Newell to the Walkers.

So what had Martin O'neil really done before he came to LCFC.

I know we took him from Norwich but he was in the lower legues for years with Wycombe.

Hardly anything to write home about before he was given the chance to do more with us.

Mike Newell got Hartlepool promoted/play-offs and then sacked, then got Luton up with little/no money and a made a team :102:

Sounds promising to me?
