:102:

What have you broken?
They think I've broken my scaphoid. However after being told they'll treat it as broken by the triage nurse, the doctor has told me I need to get it xrayed again in a fortnight when it show up clearer. Apparently.

It's the difference between 3 days on the sick and 4-6 weeks. Do these people not realise? :102:

I bet you have!

I thought you said you were a gynacologist, not an orthopaedic specialist? :102:

He does specialise in providing internal back supports for male ballet dancers, apparently

Try to push for an early diagnosis; delays in treatment can lead to difficulties in getting the bone to knit and makes arthritis more likely in later life. It is true though that it can be difficult to see a scaphoid fracture on an early X-ray and that it is likely to show up better about a fortnight later. Have you considered asking for a scan?

If it is a fracture there, I doubt that you would get back to work within 3 days whatever they did (depending what it is you do).

Thanks for the info. I have been given an appointment for two weeks today - are you suggesting I try to rearrange it?

I have been given a brace to immobilise the wrist.

The last comment was more the fact I've been told to have the rest of the week off, and reassess the situation on Monday. Even though it's more than likely broken, I am allowed to drive (:102:) until it's plastered. Had they put it into plaster for two weeks I would have been signed off. As it stands, I will have to beg my GP for a sick note. The fact is, it's sprained anyway.

As for what I do, that is the subject of great debate! ;)

In a NHS healthline reply 'Go see your GP'

If you are concerned :icon_wink , it might be worth going to your GP and asking whether a scan might give an earlier definitive disgnosis - his support might help.

As for what you do? :icon_bigg I wasn't asking - just pointing out that your employment might make a difference to how long you are likely to need off.

People that walk past your house while you're washing your car and say 'you can do mine if you like'

Fook off. I'm not particularly enjoying doing my own, why would I want to clean yours? I don't even know you.

Dickheads.
