I went to Benidorm last year on a very late deal and was pleasantly surprised. The area where we were was not at all typical of the image that is portrayed - there were lots of little boutiques and it wasn't at all noisy or rowdy. It was packed with Spanish folk on their own holidays. It was only on our last day that we stumbled upon "The Square".

I wouldn't recommend it for you though, as the beach was/will be packed in July.

As for Salou - I took a local bus there when I went to La Pineda. I couldn't wait to get the next bus back. Absolutely, Blackpool abroad. Enough said.

The hotel i've suggested in the Costa Daurada is in Cap Salou, which is the area between Salou and La Pineda. There are a few nice beaches around that area, and it is easy to get to Salou and La Pineda by bus.

I don't like to visit the Costa Daurada in the summer. I'd always prefer to go in May or September.


As for the All inclusive in Sharm, I forgot the name of the hotel, but it is easy to find on Firstchoice.co.uk with a little search.

Yes, I know where you mean - it's very much on no-man's land, so no good for having a wander at night, you would have to rely on buses and taxis, but they are frequent and operate until very late in high season.

It was more the randomness of his 'recommendations' that suggested it to me. Just what I have come to expect from travel agents who do little more than think of a number and find something on that page.

Unfortunately I'm not a trainee travel agent. Flight times don't really matter to me, if it's 100 quid cheaper to fly at night i'm happy to do it. And sometimes I actually prefer night flights. Only time I don't is on transatlantic return flights. Never can get sleep on them.

Don't know which part you are off to, but I loved Amadores, few miles from Porto Rico. Small but plenty of places to eact/drink and a man made beach that's pretty good.

I have just returned from this area of Puerto Rico.

The beach is absolutely superb. Before we went, we saw plenty of pictures and I thought they had edited them to make it look better than it was, but it wasn't like that at all. The pictures are a true reflection of exactly how it is. The colour of the sea is incredible.

I went there in 1988 and hated it. I'm sure it'll have changed for the better...
