I travel to all away games and to as many as i can by train with my wife, never been herded by the police.
Did you see the Leicester fans being herded to the Barnsley game five minutes before kick off?

Yes their was a Sniper at the top of the roof where those people used to watch the game from.
Was their
No, I was sensible enough to get in on a train at about 11 and went to the pub, if you do arrive with the crowds you deserve what you get for not planning your day.
Last season i got the train that gets to Leicester at 1130 (approx) and they had already starting "hearding" wendies
I live in Sheffield and am a season tiket holder.
Every time wednesday have come down they have stopped every one on my train who looks like there going to football and asked them to come to one side only on showing my ST do they allow you out the staition
What if you've got no choice but to arrive and leave with the crowds?
I always leave via the car park to avoid such issues. :icon_wink
But they do it anyway. If the police cannot identify you as a trouble maker they can't hold you in an area
But they do it anyway.
If you have a home ticket and can't be identified as an away fan (ie. not in colours or known to the police) the police wouldn't have a clue if you were an away fan and wouldn't escort you to the away end. It is the clubs job to make sure that they don't sell tickets to fans in the wrong areas and police will only get involved to stop trouble, if you were an away fan with a home ticket you'd not be escorted.
They try to do it anyway, I must be lucky or something because I have never been herded to a ground.

Might decide to travel down on the Friday instead.
Niether have i, i would quite like to try it tho it looks like fun
I think you are being naive if you think the onus will be on the police to prove that you are an away fan; if they believe you to be an away fan, you will be treated as such. The police will do whatever they judge in their wisdom that they need to do to prevent trouble. If they have reason to believe that you are an away fan, you are likely to be 'put into the escort'. If you then produce your home ticket and they still have reason to believe that you are an away fan, you are likely to be detained.
What actually happens on the day will depend on the 'intelligence' that the police have gathered and the behaviour of fans earlier in the day.
Jeff, I'd suggest wearing a Leicester replica shirt, or scarf or bobble hat.
I had thought of that but I wasn't sure if it's possible to go that way now they've installed ticket barriers.
