Seems that no one on here noticed we changed to a 3-5-2 second half (hence the two subs) - needless to say it didn't work.

I spent nearly 3 and a half hours going to this game and it really pisses me off when the team fail to put in any kind of a performance given the amount of time money and effort the fans make to attend these games!

Not one single player came out of today's match with any credit at all in my opinion. We will really struggle to do anything at all this season unless we can find some performances from somewhere!

And did anyone else notice that Gerry sat all through the second half? Was this at the request of Megson, who I would imagine feels undermined by Gerry given his 'cult' status at the club. The club is just a total shambles at the moment left right and centre and I am honestly considering going up to tell Milan what I think of him and his decisions! I hope he is happy with what he has done.

I genuinly feel that we would be better off with Rob Kelly in charge today.

Very interesting analysis.

I just think that, sadly Milan has made some really bad decisions and wasted a lot of his money and a big opportunity:

1. bringing in Allen who he knew was OTT by reputation and then not being able to live with it

2. signing lots of players - but including lots of mediocre players

3. bringing in Megson - a move that was still further going to kill off enthusiasm

4. as you imply - brnging in Gerry to please the supporters but with the full knowledge that this was going to ultimately cause friction cos the assistant would immediately be the focus for fans' dissent when things start to go pear shape.

For once, I really don't know where we should go from here - but it looks a bit bleak.

The incident involving two fans just topped it all off, it was only 3 rows behind me right when we had a free kick in a good position, did anyone actually see what happened, cos i was concentrating on the match??

If its the one I know about, a young lad was constantly having his chair kicked by a moron for the majority of the match, so he asked if he would stop kicking his chair...the response to this was the moron assaulting the poor kid. We seriously dont need this kind of support for our team. Yes they played poorly, Mattock just doesnt have the experience and didnt have a clue yesterday. The ball was played every time to Danny Mills and they still didnt cotton on to it... some serious work needs to take place for us to improve. It wouldnt be fair to just single out Mattock, the majority of the team didnt have a clue either, the only shining light for me was Hume. They looked slightly better in the second half when N'gotty came on, but never looked like scoring a goal.

There's lots there to be sad about!

I can barely raise a feeling for us atm - I even went to Nuneaton via Coventry today, that was depressing. Normally come 5.30pm on Saturday I have a long 35 minute ranting moan from either watching us play or from soundbites I have heard. Yesterday, I barely raised 2 minutes, just resigned to the fact we're shit and the tunnel in front of us is very dark.

My biggest gripe is when you look at the quality and predigree of both Allen and Megson I have to question the sanity of MM in not allowing Worthington the opportunity to build on his time at the end of last season. Bar the Wolves game which was a dead rubber, he managed to gel and unite what seemed a pretty disjointed bunch and whilst the quality of football was lacking at least there was bite, passion and a fair amount of guts.

Are Allen and Megson that much better ....:102:

It's quite ironic really. When Worthington came in there were a lot of people who felt that he was a really uninspiring choice at the time. Now though, with the benefit of hindsight perhaps as you say he wouldn't have been so bad afterall.

Re: Charlton Match Thread

The frustration is more so becuase after Watford there was optimism this season would at least show some real signs of improvement. Allen might not have lead us to promotion, but he appeared to be in the process of turning the club around, much like Little after Pleat.

The players while not great at least were showing under Allen they were buying into what he was trying to create. MDV was a prime example.

However MM has made a real pigs ear of it. Whatever was going behind the scenes, on the playing side progress was being made which is ultimately what matters most. By getting rid of Allen he has created uncertainty within the squad, appointed a manager with who nobody else has deemed fit to employ for two years & created division within the fans.

After Allen was jettisoned whoever the new manager was he needed to rally the players behind him. With the transfer window closed, barring a few loans he will have to pick his teams from most of them. So his public condeming of them is bad man management in my view. Predictably morale has evaporated i& uncertainty risen in the wake of these comments.

I don't think many fans would necessarily disagree with Megson's appraisal of the current squad, but it needed to be kept private.

I found Megson's appointment uninspiring, but that's not his nor fault his the squad he was to work with. But his management, team selection & subsitutions have been poor to date. He was a lot make up for already.

Hi, i never post but i thought i should start to, ive just come back from charlton and it was a complete SHAMBLES. Our tactics in the 1st half were so poor, charlton were all over us, and it looks like if we play anymore like that we'll be in for another relegtion fight this season. We really dont know what to do with the ball when we get in on a counter attack, stearman is useless with it, and im not sure about mattock either. Hume was our best player in the first half i think, twas a shame he was brought off. Martin Fulop looked a bit dodgy at times. Our forwards werent good enough, fryatt isnt good enough and carl cort is no where near good enough to get a regular place in the first team unfortunatly for him, but im sure he will get better. De vries should have played today i think, campbell played alright but he hardly had any support. Kishishev i thought played alright, and kisnorbo played well and made a few good tackles but when charlton were attacking most of the time our defence was all over the place. In the second half we played a bit better, charlton were less attacking which was probably their tactic, we left it too late yet again though.

Our training and warm up didnt look very good either before the match, its not really good to have shooting practice just before kick off is it, its just like a little game to get the crowd going and its not very productive.

I hardly go to leicester matches cos i live in kent, so charlton isnt far so i always go there when we play against them, but i thought that some of our supporters on the right side were right cocks, they chant 'stand up and support your team' to people sitting down, and then they slag off all the players and chant cruel things to megson, who even though he used to be with the florists, we should still get behind him cos he controls our team. Im only 16 but i know what gets the players morales up and what obviously doesnt.I clapped at most things our team got right, even if it was just small tackles that conceded corners, thats called getting behind the team, not shouting in corts face'f**king sh**e your are', just when hes getting back into regular football after a torrid time in injury. Also shouting 'Theres only one martin allen' isnt getting behind the team either is it, chanting that wont make milan bring him back, nor will it get the players morales up. The incident involving two fans just topped it all off, it was only 3 rows behind me right when we had a free kick in a good position, did anyone actually see what happened, cos i was concentrating on the match?? Its so stupid getting into fights like that when there are small children going to their first football matches, it just shows what football is turning into, films like the football factory and green street dont help! Charlton clapped us at the start for our good sportsmanship during the week, i wonder what they think now.

I hope i havnt accidently slagged anyone off on these forums :)

P.S I paid a fortune to get kaebi on the back of my shirt, am i ever going to see him play!!

According to Boc, it was Jim from the ticket office, his son who got assaulted. Jim always sits near us away games and we saw him go out soon after whatever happened kicked off, we asusmed it was someone from his coach, but afterwards Boc said it was his lad.

Unless someone has already said, I don't know why it happened.

Yeah it was Jim, I was sat next to him when he got the call about his lad being assaulted... it was the info I posted before about the lout kicking his chair. Truly disgraceful... there were a huge amount of "not rights" there yesterday who had clearly come for the drink and the fight...

I'm sure I know you, you know......maybe only like knowing who you are by sight, but I'm sure I do...

TBH if it had been someone kicking the back of my seat I wouldn't have been so polite about it, but maybe I can get away with that cos I'm a girl.

I've never had someone hit me when I've told them to pack the fecker in, put it that way!

I was wearing a blue hoodie (no, I'm not a chav :icon_conf)... you'll have to say hello next time :)

Am I alone in preferring Rob Kelly's, " They're a grand bunch of lads and, although we lost the match 0-5, they work realy hard on the training field." to Gary Megson's "Not my fault, rubbish squad."?

I would prefer to hear the following " Whilst at present we aren't performing at anywhere near the levels we are capable of, I know and can see that there is enough talent within the squad to be challenging for the play offs but there has been an air of under achievement and lack of character and professionalism over the last three or so seasons and it stops now. I will bring in 2 or 3 quality players to supplement the current squad and I will get the current crop performing at the levels there potential more than suggests they are capable of then we will have a successful season "
